Frequently Asked Questions
How do I install ImageX Converter?
To install ImageX Converter:
- Visit the Chrome Web Store
- Search for "ImageX Converter" or click the download button on our website
- Click "Add to Chrome"
- Confirm the installation when prompted
After installation, you'll see the ImageX Converter icon in your Chrome toolbar.
Which image formats are supported?
ImageX Converter currently supports the following formats:
- PNG
- JPG/JPEG
- WebP
- GIF
- BMP
- TIFF
- SVG (conversion to raster formats only)
We're constantly working to add support for more formats in future updates.
Is there a limit to the image size I can convert?
ImageX Converter can handle images up to 20MB in size. For larger images, we recommend using a desktop application for better performance.
Keep in mind that very large images may take longer to process, as all conversion happens locally in your browser.
Why can't I convert some images on certain websites?
Some websites implement security measures that prevent extensions from accessing their images. These can include:
- Content Security Policy (CSP) restrictions
- Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) limitations
- Images loaded through special JavaScript methods
In these cases, you might need to download the image first and then convert it using the extension's popup interface.
Does ImageX Converter work offline?
Yes! Since all image processing happens locally in your browser, ImageX Converter works completely offline once installed.
This also means your images never leave your computer during the conversion process, ensuring your privacy.
How can I adjust the quality of converted images?
When converting images, you can adjust quality settings by:
- Right-clicking on an image and selecting "Convert with ImageX"
- Choosing your desired output format
- Clicking the "Advanced Settings" option
- Adjusting the quality slider or entering a specific value
For formats like JPG and WebP, lower quality values result in smaller file sizes but may introduce compression artifacts.
How do I update ImageX Converter?
Chrome automatically updates extensions in the background. To check if you have the latest version:
- Go to chrome://extensions in your browser
- Enable "Developer mode" in the top-right corner
- Look for the version number under ImageX Converter
You can also manually update by clicking the "Update" button on the extensions page.
